History of Buddhist Religion



Buddha religion spreaded   over to a certain religions of ancient Bengal before Aushuk , Mourya Dynasty Emperor. Buddha religion was established in Pandorabardhan within the 2nd century B.C. Huyan Sang, Chinese mendicant has said Somotot. He has seen many heaps in Pundrabardan involved in the  memory of Aushuk. The religion of Buddha was Publicized in good number of ancient inhabited Place of Bangladesh at the attempt of the Tharobadee Buddhists of Ceylon. The name of Bengal is found in a stone inscrption  of 3rd  century. Out of ancient sixteen great elder Thobir Kalik was an inhabitant of Tarmalipti, Huyan Sang found Buddhists temple. The disciples of Buddha of Tharabudee  are mentioned in store inscription of the great place. It has been said to help them by sesame, rice, bracelet coin from the royal treasury and crop stock during their danger. During the 2nd century B.C. a female religion bestowed and another male Rishinanda helped money for constructing the gateway of famous true heaps. In the beginning of the  fourth century, Buddha Shramons of the country China used to travel in North Bengal.
      
The great king Srigupta  constructed a Chinese temple for using the    Chines Shramons. Eit Sing came to Tamralipti in 673 AD. He studied Sanskrit and Phonetics. He translated a Sanskrit book into Chinese language . He mentioned a Shramon named by knowledge was extensive.

During that time. another Chinese traveler came to Sangehi plain beach. He wrote that Rajvot was the then king. He was a bosom pious and devoted to three ornaments. He performed to make one Lac incarnation of Budda daily. He used to glorify picking up one lac flowers. He use to contribute and to meditate. Sometimes, he used to go in a Procession  in honor of Buddha. An image of Abolokitashwar used to be kept in front of this procession. The  disciples of Buddha would move tying line behind   this. The king would stay behind them. There were men four thousand  Buddhist mendicant friar and  nun in the capital of Somotot. There was severe powerful influence of Buddha religion. Pal Rajbongsa was a Mohajani Buddha in Bangladesh. Pal Rajbongsa used to serve use religion of Buddha or association of intently. He tried to extend its influence. 
 
The enrichment of the ancient Nalanda Great monastery was broken out during the time of Dharmapal. It is he due to whose endeavor Sompur great monastery was established. The name of that great monastery was Sri Dharmapaldeb great monastery. Chancellor Parivrado Taikutuk compiled the famous note cultivating knowledge in monastery.

Another emperor Devopal of Palbongsa donated five villages for constructing Nalonda Monestery during the eight  century. During the regime of Debopal, a Buddhist Shilahar Kongkon Gour coustructed a big worship house for the Buddhist mendicants in 851 A.D. On return to the country,he donated one hundred grapes for paying cheebor to the mendicants of that place. During the regime of Mohipal and Joypal acquired the reputation in exercising knowledge. The Buddhist Shramons used to come from home and abroad. An  inhabitant of Somotot established big image of Buddha in Dharmendra Buddhagaya during tenth century A.D.

Dharmapal established fifty religious school. Many Buddhist preceptors used to live in such monasteries. They composed the Tibboti Translation of many Sanskrit scriptures in cooperation with the Tibboti Scholars. There was Potticarak monastery in the hill of Mynamoti. The words of that monastery is mentioned in the inscription of 1220 AD. A Buddhist preceptor in the name of Bonorotna composed the tibboti translation of many Sanskrits living there. Yellow Monastery was located towards the south west by thirty miles of Paharpur. The preecptors have exercised knowledge for century by century sitting in such great monastery.

The Buddhist monastery has been provided the land in the certain copper rule of ancient Bengal. A Buddhist of Monastery, Comilla district was donated eleven patak fellow land directly. The income coming from the yield of that land would meet up the costs of repairing  the monastery, fooding ,medicine dwelling house of the buddhist Mendicant, burning lamp at monastery. The regime of great king Banogupta is renowned as Gonaigar copper regime. As such, the conditions have been provided there.

One.        Conservation of shelter monastery for great wise Buddhist mendicant peace god.
Two.        Arrangement of worship including scent flower to the great wise mendicant association established & unsalaried by peace god at this monastery.

The chinese traveler Fa Hiyan informed that the then Buddhist monesteries possessed sufficient quantity of Estate. There was no rule to cultivate in such land by the mendicants of the monastery of Bainogupta The frarmers would be engaged for cultivation. There were two monasteries mentioned in the inscription of Baingupta out of which the one’s name is Rajbihar.

The chinere Buddhist Shramons used to come to Bangladesh towards the end of third century  and the beginning of fourth century, specially  in the Barind  Tract of North Bengal. Eit Sing wrote, Moharaj Sri gupta constructed a chinese temple for the
 
Chinese Shamans’ use. He has contributed twenty villages for conservation of that temple. This temple was near to the Mrigostapon  of North Bengal.

      Many information are available concerning the evolution of Buddha religion of  ancient Bangladesh from the Chinese Shramons. Around six hundred mendicants used to live there. There was a tremendous Buddhist temple at the northern part of kajongle where there was a map designed to the  wall.

Eit Sing came to Tamrolipti in 673A.D. He wrote the history of living of Buddhist Mendicants of Buddhist Monastery in that Place. The lives of the mendicants was tied with strict rules and discipline. They used to move avoiding the familial life. They would not kill the life. They used to conduct with disuplined and modesty. Sain Che came to Somotot during six century. He found that the establishment of Buddha Rajbongsha. The king’s name was Rajbot. He used to  arrange build  images of Buddha daily. He used to make read one lac couplet. He used to worship to one lac flowers plucked newly. He used to donate lot. He used to go in a procession in honor of Buddha. An image of Abolukiteswar would remain in front of that procession. The pious and the mendicants would move linking time behind him.

While Goutom Buddha was alive Buddha religion was publicized in Bangladesh. On the day of extinguishing, he said himself,  the prince of Bengla  Bijoy has attended of Ceylon today my religion will be everlasting in Ceylon. The history of Bijoy Singha is mentioned in Pali books ‘Dipbongha and Mohadangha’ of Ceylon written in the fourth fifth Ceylon, AD.  Bijoy was the son of Singbahu, the king of Lon country. Singbahu along with 8 hundred ninety nine followers banished him for his arrogant and undisciplined behaviour on the day of nirvana of Buddhadeb, Bijoy singha reached lanka sinking of the boat. Bijoy Singho established the kingdom in Ceylon. Bijoy Singha, the boy of Bengalee won lanka. It is mentioned in the book Mohabotshow, Mohendra and songomitra Budidruma went to Ceylon from Tamralipti port of ancient Bengal along with the seedlings of trees as per the direction of Emperor Aushuk. According to Huyan Sang’s statement, Tamralipti was located in a steep gradient of the sea, being a joint place of land and water way, this city became an important center of business normally. Bangladesh is full with Buddhist’s tradition, The Buddhist’s religion was publicized in this country during while Buddha expired to that place, was in alive condition since that the civilization of Buddhist religion extended its extensive influence till thirteenth century AD. The Buddhist culture kept influence as time winer                          
      Sumpuri great monasfery, Bikromshila great monastery, Nalonda monastery Basu monastery, yellow monastery, Jagaddal Monastery, Shalbon monastery, Anando Monastery,  tripura Monastery, Pandit  Monastery, was the highest holy places of education and culture.
